First Annual Bartending Competition.

Points break down:

Drink Knowledge – this will be a written test of 20 drinks. We will hand out a sheet with 40 drinks to know prior to the competition. 20 drinks will be taken from this list, and participants are graded on the knowledge of the drinks and their correct recipes.

50 points total

Pour Accuracy – we will test how well you pour! This is the part that makes your owners money, so we need to look out for them as well. You are more than welcome to bring your own pour spouts for this.

50 points total

This will go as follows:

  • 10 pts: 1/2, 3/4, 1, 1 1/4, 1 1/2 oz pours, dominant hand, stopping after each pour.

Speed – the more drinks you serve, the more you and your establishment make!

50 points total

You will have time to set your bar the way you like. You will be told what liquors you will need, and will have a fruit tray and straw caddy. A “cocktail server” will call off 2 rounds of drinks, one round of 7 drinks, one round of 6. Both rounds will have at least 2 drinks that require more than one liquor. The clock starts when the server calls the drinks and ends each round when the final garnish and straw are in the drink.

Points as follows:

  • 30 pts: total time under 1 min 30 sec
  • 27 pts: total time under 1 min 45 sec
  • 24 pts: total time under 2 min
  • 20 pts: total time under 2 min 15 sec
  • 15 pts: total time under 2 min 30 sec
  • 10 pts: total time under 2 min 45 sec
  • 5 pts: total time under 3 min
  • 0 pts: any time over 3 min

The final 20 points are given out based on first to last place finish, 1st being 20 pts, and then 2 pts less each place thereafter.

Flair! – this is the part everyone wants to see! Be creative but go BIG or go HOME! We will have a DJ so have your playlist ready! Performance should be roughly around 5 minutes. You must make at least a round of shots to pass out, a signature cocktail (no blender) from your establishment (represent!), and something else of your choice.

  • 15 points for crowd response
